The time has come

There is never a dull moment in the Gaston house with these two around

 

This is the scene at Margaret's (aka Granny's) retirement party

She has been an intrical part of the community for 24 years

She is hanging up her boots to enjoy the good life whatever that maybe

She has given so much and now it is time to enjoy her time

 

My kids were the only kids at the party

They took full advantage and soaked up all the attention

Riley seranded us to the words of "Silent Night" almost the whole time

She couldn't get enough of being in front of everyone

I was surprised how comfortable she was on stage

Huntley didn't want to miss out so he pretended to fix things with his tools!

Jesse mostly slept and wanted to eat anything he could put in his mouth!

 



Perspective

Time....when you need it you don't have enough of it and when you don't need it you have too much of it. 

When I think of my mom I think of her as the "rock" in the family.  She is the glue that holds us together, no one can make things happen the way she does.  I heard her cry for the first time in a long time this morning.  I cried quietly right along with her as it broke my heart.  Then I thought what I would do if I didn't have her..that brought on a whole other set of tears.

We traveled to K-town this past weekend.  It was a good trip.  Riley and Huntley got to play with cousins they rarely see, swim in the pool, be with Granny and Auntie and get spoiled rotten.  It was good to be there but also sad.  We stayed at Grandad's house...Seth and I were both uneasy and didn't sleep much the night before.  He is my security blanket. Lately I have thought how time and pespective kind of go hand in hand.  It hurts to lose someone we love, whether it is a Grandparent, Mother, Father, sister or friend even though we know we will see them again it still hurts.

Times like these make me hug my kids a little longer, kiss on them a little more and just be thankful I have one more "new" day with them because you never know what tomorrow will bring.

The places we go

We took a trip down to K-town this week and boy did we have a great time.  We got to spend time with the cousins from Colorado, Auntie, Grandpa, and Granny.  We got to ride around on golf carts, do a little golfing (which to my surprise I have totally lost my game), ate pizza, played games and spent Granny's money on little trinkets and on this car that the kids could not get enough of, went fishing, fed the ducks (even though there were no ducks in sight) hopefully they came back later to find we had left them a lot of bread to eat, swam in the pool, and just tired ourselves out.  It was great to see our cousins and spend a little time with them since we don't see them enough.
